Both of these labels are identical except the one on the right is rotated 270 degrees and the height/width is transposed. The size (height) should be large enough to hold all the text (as shown on the left), and the border gets cut off and not rotated with the label itself.
This is version 8.3, but I think the issue is the same on 8.1. The “fix” is to create a huge label that is wide enough to hold the text, however this is a problem on templates where the labels don’t (easily) expand beyond the bounds of the template itself.
Is this planned on getting fixed?
There is a way to do it with the paintable canvas as well: Vertical text truncated - #2 by Carl.Gould
I thought there was something you could do with wrapping the text in but I'm not finding it.

Yeah it doesn’t seem to matter what I change with the text alignment/position (I need it centered in the label), it doesn’t change the “…” ellipsis. I think when the text is measured for drawing it isn’t taking into account the label rotation.
Did you try the link I posted? We've had success with using the paintable canvas.

Yeah, that part works, although it would be nice if the paintable canvas also painted in the designer, still hoping that the label gets fixed (seems like Inductive could replace the Label component with a custom one that does something like the paintable canvas instead of using whatever built-in Swing component causes the “deep rooted” issue)…
That's it... I knew it was there somewhere.
