S7-PLCSIM with Ignition 8.0

I have an Simatic Manager software with S7-400 PLC program and a S7-PLCSIM (Simulation Software).

Is it possible to connect Ignition 8.0 with the S7-PLCSIM software.

All forum discussions show only with Respect to TIA portal SIM and connectivity to S7-1200 or S7-1500.

Take a look at NetToPlcsim. That tool allows Ignition’s S7 driver to access Plcsim.

Thanks a Lot. I was able to connect it.

I am just trying to have some handson with Ignition and was trying to have some simulation software which could help me do a real test.

I was able to connect Ignition with S7-PLCSIM through NetToPlcsim.

Very easy to configure if everything is done as per the manual correctly.

Hi Chi I got the OPC UA connection through.

However I am not able to read the values from the PLCsim onto my Ignition.

I had just created an OPC tag with the following address [DCP_ms]DBn370,REAL0.0, DCP_ms being my OPC name in OPC configuration.

can you suggest whether i have addressed correctly the tag

its done

So are you saying that Ignition needs the NETtoPlcsim in order to read/wrtie from a plcsim run project?

I am not able to see my tag folders on Designer atm

Yes, plcsim is not meant to be used as a Software PLC of to be connected online. NETtoPlcsim is a hack to avoid that limitation.
There is PlcSim Advanced that simulates the onboard OPC-UA Server.

We are using 8.1.24 Siemens module to talk to S7-400 via PLC Sim. Very odd string tag behavior. We have Ignition and Wonderware Intouch running in parallel and the string values are not the same between systems even though the point to same memory address in PLC. Any ideas?
