When hovering the mouse pointer over an error in the script console, the help is displayed. On my machine, the help is not readable because both the foreground and background colors are practically the same dark color. (see attachment) Is there a way to modify one of the colors?

No, but this is a known issue that’s going to be fixed in an upcoming release along with some other script editor improvements.
