Serial Instrument Logging

I have 3 serial components for my machine, I would like them to always be active. It appears they are only active if the window is open. Does this mean I need to put them in my nav window so they are always active or am I missing something?

Also, I am gathering data ~ every 2 seconds and wish to data log everything (about 8 values) from the serial component. What I cam up with was to write everything to tags, then use a transaction group to log everything. Is this the best way to do it, our should I do the SQL directly in the afterParse event?

Hi,
Yes, currently you need to have the window open for the component to work.
As for logging the data it is up to you. Both ways will work just fine.
