Hello - I am trying to upgrade our version of Ignition 8.3.1 to the newest release 8.3.8. However the installer is showing "Service name is already in use". Can anyone advise how to proceed here? I've already tried installing with the gateway running and stopped. I also did a full reset on the server, but same message. Thanks!
Check the services running on the server. There is at least one other software company out there that uses Ignition as their service name. Something IT related - firewall or device management or something. Ran into it at my last job.
Thank you for your reply. It looks like the only service on my server named "Ignition" is my Ignition 8.3.1 server (which I'm trying to upgrade)!
Would it make sense to manually uninstall this SW, then install 8.3.8? I just don't want to break something that's already working....

Definitely don't uninstall if you're wanting to upgrade that current installation. What that indicates is that the installation location is not the default aka C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition. You'll want to find where the current Ignition service is installed and run the Ignition 8.3.8 installer again, this time updating the installation location selection.
