Session Properties Gone

This is weird.
This is the 2nd time it happen.

My all my custom session variable got deleted somehow..

HOW, WHY???

I am on 8.3.*

Hope someone can shed a light on this.

This is the second time this has happened to me where my custom session properties are gone. I had approx. 20 of them and at some point they just disappeared. I see a lot of other posts about people losing bindings to them among other things but I don't believe I saw one where the session properties were essentially deleted. Does anyone else ever experienced this problem? The Ignition Edge version is 8.1.23

(Numerous other topics depending on which keywords you put in a search.)

Oh, and I've never bumped into it on Linux. FWIW.

Solution

• put up a Docker Container
• restore backup
• Designer export "Session Props"
• Designer import
• Designer Save and Exit
• Relaunch Designer

You can also just copy the session props file from the gwbk and paste it over the one in the file system in production, then issue a project file system scan from script or Web portal. Then update project from the designer to pull in the changes

I've never bumped into it on Linux.

This is interesting.

Do you suspect the issue is OS dependent, browser dependent, or local security dependent?

I would suspect variations in the JRE across platforms, but I really don't know. Keep in mind that by "Linux", I mean my workstation that runs my designers is Linux on bare metal. The designer is not virtualized in any way, and is trusted to directly connect to the network.

I have, but it's only been when connected to a client system remotely via a vpn.

Interesting, because I make heavy use of VPNs with my clients.

I experienced session properties disappearing quite often with Windows.

The interesting part - it only seemed to happen while connected to a VPN (even though the Ignition server and Designer were on the same Windows device).

I use git to revert the changes but sometimes it just happens constantly until I restart the Ignition service.

This issue is usually accompanied by an error in the wrapper logs on our system.

um. what in the world is session params:

When saving, i got an error saying Session "something" cannot be saved..

I told to myself "This is it again". So i opened another designer hoping Session Custom Props still there.

Yup, glad still there. But saw this "Session Params"

I was getting this error on Friday every save. Rebooted over the weekend, and today one of the session custom values was deleted.
