SEVERE failures when creating new View in Perspective

I am receiving the following message when I try to create a new View in Perspective

I have tried restarting the designer. This doesn’t happen every time. Other times, I get issues when opening existing Views where the designer gets a black screen and then crashes.

Hi danFronNj,

To be able to effective assist you with the issues you are getting. I will require to get some information from you.
For example: -

  1. What Version of Ignition are using? Is it the latest and if not could you upgrade to the latest version and see if you are still getting the issue?
  2. What are the specs for the Machine you are using such as RAM, OS etc
  3. Have you tried increasing the Designer Memory size in the Gateway settings from the default to a higher amount?
  4. Could you provide us with the entire stacktrace logs from when you are seeing the errors?
  5. Could also provide a gateway backup for the project where you are seeing the issue?
Will help in reproducing it on my end.

Thanks,
Anthony

I am using v8.0.2. This is the latest stable version; I am not interested in using the nightly version

Windows 7 SP1 running in VMWare 12.5 w/ 2.00 GB memory. I have another VM with this same base setup that is able to run Ignition 7.9 and a MS SQL Express server without any memory problem. Another VM can run RSLogix 21+ w/ FactoryTalk without problems.

I have not. I am running this on a standard installation of Ignition

I am attaching the wrapper.log. July 10th was the day that I was trying to use Ignition. The errors that I received in the designer do not appear in the wrapper log.
wrapper.log (1.8 MB)

Sure. It is attached below. There is really not much on this gateway. I was simply trying to use it to complete the certification test, but I couldn't make it through any of the Designer parts of the test because I kept getting various errors/crashes while trying to work.
(the gateway is 70MB, and it doesn't seem to want to upload).

Hi danFromNj,

Based on the information you provided to me. specifically the Fact that you running the on a VM with 2.00 GB of Memory. I would suggest upgrading the memory you are using from 2 GB to 4GB and if it doesn’t get better to 6 to 8GB. I would also suggest upgrading the designer memory from standard default to something higher like 4 GB and hopefully that improves the performance and reduces the crashes you are getting.

Thanks,
Anthony
