Short cut stops reworking

One of the ignition’s features is that it creates a desktop short cut when it successfully starts up. However, the short cut stops working after a few days and reports this error. If I connect again using the IP address, it will solve the problem but only for a short period of time.

Can you post the contents of the cache file it is trying to load?

The Java shortcuts seem to be less reliable than using a Windows (web browser) shortcut as described here.

I hope this is what you are looking for.
Here is the error on another system and the cache file.

Cache file

It is true that the Java web-start based shortcuts aren’t the greatest. I’ve never seen them simply stop working, however. There must by something awry with your Java cache on that machine. Have you updated Java to the most recent version?

The problem is on more than one system. The systems were running version 6_U17 and U18. I updated them to 20 and 21 and now the short cut doesn’t get created at all.

Try clearing out your Java cache. You can do this through the control panel or run the command “[tt]javaws -uninstall[/tt]”

Also, check the setting “shortcut creation” settings in the java control panel.
