Hi everyone,
Just wanted to reach out to ask if anyone has had luck using the Siemens Advanced Driver with a S7-1500F and user-access levels enabled. I have allowed the anonymous user to have put/get access and full access to the PLC for read/write, I have also enabled legacy connections on the PLC setup. I know its possible to do but I can’t seem to find the right settings in the PLC, any help would be appreciated.
One thing to keep in mind is that you need to recompile the hardware settings when making changes to the security settings in TIA. I've wasted several hours without realizing that the changes I had been making in TIA were not taking effect like I expected them to.
There are a few places in Siemens docs where they recommend both Compile -> "Hardware (rebuild all)" and Compile -> "Software (rebuild all)" instead of rebuilding only the changes. I don't remember if these security settings are one of those cases, but I would give it a try.
If using Symbolic addressing, you do not need PUT/GET access nor legacy connections enabled.
Are you seeing log messages that indicate there is a permissions issue?
Hi Cody,
I will make sure to hardware and software rebuild. I am not getting any logs on Ignition, except for connection time out, it’s also good to know that PUT/GET access is not required. When I was messing around with this exact PLC’s security, there was something I did that allowed the Siemens Enhanced Driver to connect and I could import all my tags in the Designer, so I know it can work. My problem is that I was changing a few settings around while testing and can’t seem to replicate that happening again.
You'll have to enable Debug level logs for the siemens loggers to see anything useful in the logs
