Siemens S7-1500 Symbolic Addressing

Hi everyone,

I have read on this forum that Ignition is/was developing a Driver for Siemens PLC's (namely the S7-1500) to be able to utilise its symbolic addressing to get tag info. Could I get some clarification if this is possible now, or do I need to still disable optimised block access in the DB properties in TIA portal?

This is a new driver that will ship with Ignition 8.3. It's not possible now.

If you use the OPC UA server feature of the S7-1500 and make an OPC UA connection from Ignition instead of use the driver you can get symbolic access / browsing that way.
