I was trying last week the V8.3 early candidate with S7-1500 and symbolic addressing and it worked actually well. The option is in the picture below :
As the V8.3.0 release was published yesterday, I tried it and I am not able to have the option of symbolic addressing on Siemens driver as you can see:
Did I missed something or the symbolling addressing was removed in 8.3.0 ?
If true, any one know if it will be available in next release and approximately when ?

They have added under new driver “Siemens Enhanced Driver”. It is reasonably priced but nice to know I am not the only one who was caught off guard by this.
I also thought it would be included with the platform, for some reason.
We wish we could, but unfortunately some licensing issues are preventing us from doing that.
Yes, without sharing too many details-- we were caught off guard by this internally as well. The licensing issues that Kathy mentioned came up pretty last minute, and they were largely out of Inductive Automation's hands.
I was pretty eager for this driver to become the de-facto replacement for the older Siemens drivers.

If someone looks for it, remember to activate it when installing gateway as it is not activated by default.
We are looking at using Ignition Edge for some work. Would we still need to purchase the additional Siemens Enhanced driver for edge as well or it’s somehow packaged into it
Even more likely that it needs to be purchased additionally, as Edge is a stripped-back product.
You would need to purchase it separately.
