SSL on Gateway URL Domain and Sub-Domain

Hi,

I need to install SSL certificates on the root domain and sub-domains for all of our gateways. Most are 7.9 gateways some are 8.1 Edge servers. We just want our gateway address to change from http to https, that's all.

Coming from a software engineering background, normally I'd just add my SSL on the domain and sub-domains through my domain registrar such as Squarespace or GoDaddy etc.

I've read through the 7.9 link here:

Is adding an SSL on my gateway domain and subdomains through my domain registrar going to cause any other issues?

Thanks

Hi, I see a lot of views but not any responses. Is this just such a silly question that it does not warrant a response? I really don't want to mess up my client's 15 gateways by adding an SSL on a domain and 15 sub-domains and I can not get a straight answer from any 7.9 documentation.

Thanks

As long as your client systems aren't behind a MITM corporate firewall, it should just work.

You probably are not getting answers because everyone I know (nearly) just uses Let's Encrypt or an internal Certificate Authority. And because virtually all possible problems you might encounter are not Ignition, but certificate technology related. And no one likes to explain that.

Thank you sir. Your response was very helpful and provided additional options and insight, which is what this forum is for. Greatly appreciated.
