Is there a best practice in setting up tags using that you will be using in transaction groups? Do you need to set the tags up as historical tags in the tag editor? If yes, that seems redundant to me. Will that use up database space unnecessarily? Thank you for your response.
You don’t need to set up a tag as historical to use in a transaction group. My personal preference is to use transaction groups over the historian, as you can often get better context if you are logging multiple items at the same time.
Did that help, or did I just throw more mud into the water? 
Bypass making tags all together, just drag them in directly from your opc browser to the transaction group.
