The best way to alert the operator that there are unacknowledged alarms, using bits

I'm copying the functions of an existing Red Lion HMI using Ignition Vision- Edge. Can you point me to how I can alert the operator that there are new, unacknowledged alarms, using a bit. I'm trying to use color on a multi-state indicator, and I'd like to distinguish warnings and alarms, acknowledged and not acknowledged, using color. I have a nice page for the alarms, but I don't know how to alert the operator that something new has happened, and he should open the alarm page. I can look it up if I know what to call it.

Would simply monitoring the "[System]Gateway/Alarming/Active and Unacked" tag be enough? If you need to differentiate between different priorities, you'll need to use another method.

The exchange also has this resource that may help if you need to gether more data than just a count of active and Unacked alarms: Ignition Exchange | Inductive Automation

That is what I was looking for. I spent time going through the videos, and skimming the help file. But I couldn't find the right path. I needed the path. That seems like the path. I'll explore from here. Thanks!!
