Transaction group says 853, DB columns say 1021?

I have a transaction group that says I have 853 items in it, But when I try to add items to it, It errors out and states the group contains more than the max 1024 columns.

Today I copied the transaction group on a new table and when its created it shows me that the DB creates 1021 columns but the group says 853?

I did an export of the transaction group and counted 1021 tags

Any suggestions why the Transaction group would be off by 168?

I cant help you with your problem but I can suggest that you move to a tall format instead of wide.
