Transactional groups no CSV Export/Import

There needs to be a way to import/export transactional groups via CSV for editing large groups and items.

Indeed, this got pushed back a bit. Out of curiosity, what do you use to edit them, Excel? We’ve never been happy with the group CSV format, and would ideally like to move to an XML format. Still, we know that lots of people have used the CSV format as-is, so we’ll probably add both.

At any rate, it should be coming in a week or so.

Regards,

Thanks Colby,
To answer your question I have too many to edit and will not be doing them one at a time. I will be changing from Kep to OPCUA. If it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t have to touch them. I use excel for editing because of the fill series function.

Hi Colby,

XML format will be nice, since it will be easier to programatically create the groups. I currently used the CSV export a lot since we have typically multiple machines so it is easy to export to CSV open it in Notepad++ and search an replace part of the items names and group names.

Thanks

It boggles my mind that there isn’t a good XML tool that offers some sort of “pull-down” auto-completion like a spreadsheet program. It is such a pain for us to try and “flatten” these very non-flat data structures down into CSV, but at the same time we understand why you all want the feature.

Just putting this out there in case someone knows a better way that would let us use XML exclusively.

I am looking for this feature - is it available? I am not able to find it in 7.0.5.

Hi

Just wondering if this feature was included in the latest release.

Aidan

Quick question, does anyone have a solution to this problem?? Just some information, we upgraded our FSQL project into Ignition! and have now exported to an XML file. It is 51883 rows. It would really suck if we have to touch each and ever tag in every group just to remap it to the OPCUA.

By the way, we are coming from KEP to OPCUA. So we have a KEP export that has a tagname and an address column. If we could get the xml in a similar structure, then it wouldn’t be that time consuming to sort and then copy and paste the addresses into it.

The way that this was designed was that we anticipated that most conversions would continue to use their kep addresses through our OPC-COM bridge module.

If you want to switch OPC servers to our OPC-UA server, then yes: you’ll have to re-map the item addresses because the formats are different. However - this is what computers are good it! Find/replace or excel macros should make short work of it.

Is this still a planned feature or has this been abandoned?
