Transfer a license back and forth

Hi, we are upgrading a customer from Ignition 7.9 to 8.1. License is already good to be transferred . We have the chance to have a separate physical server for V8.1, so I can only stop the actual V7.9 server and start the new one. As far as licensing, I will transfer the license to the new server running 8.1. If things go bad, can I return the license to the old server running 7.9 without problems?

Applying a license to an 8.1 gateway will not prevent you from re-applying to 7.9 as long as you transfer the license in the documented manner. The manual entry I gave is for 7.9, but it would be the same process in 8.1:

  1. Unactivate the license on the old Gateway
  2. Upon success, apply the same license key to the new Gateway
