Trouble upgrading Ignition from 8.0.12 to 8.0.14?

Currently have a 8.0.12 licensed Ignition gateway running. I am trying to upgrade to 8.0.14 for some bug fixes. Without installing 8.0.12, I tried running 8.0.14 to upgrade as per the documentation but it keeps failing, and I get this in my logs -

STATUS | wrapperm | 2021/02/03 08:18:44 | Ignition Gateway service stopped.
STATUS | wrapperm | 2021/02/03 08:18:44 | Ignition Gateway service removed.
ERROR | wrapperm | 2021/02/03 08:19:19 | Unable to install the Ignition Gateway service - The account name is invalid or does not exist, or the password is invalid for the account name specified. (0x421)
STATUS | wrapperm | 2021/02/03 08:24:48 | The Ignition Gateway Service is not installed.
ERROR | wrapperm | 2021/02/03 08:24:51 | Unable to install the Ignition Gateway service - The account name is invalid or does not exist, or the password is invalid for the account name specified. (0x421)

Tried rebooting the system but I don’t see any gateway now - presumably because of the line saying service removed. How can I fix this?

Do you have a backup of the system before the upgrade that you can restore on another machine after installing 8.0.14?

I have the gateway backup yes.

Try installing the version you’re upgrading to on another machine and restoring your backup. See if you get a different outcome.

I ended up installing 8.0.12 again (on top of the broken 8.0.14) and that worked so I then deactivated my license, uninstalled Ignition with the application in the Ignition folder, did a fresh install of 8.0.14, restored my gateway and then activated the license. Then it worked.
