Unable to Connect to Omron PLC Using FINS/TCP in Ignition

Hi everyone,

I am trying to connect an Omron PLC to Ignition 8.1.44 using the Omron FINS/TCP protocol, but I am unable to establish communication.

The PLC is reachable on the network, but the FINS/TCP connection from Ignition is not connecting.

I have checked the following:

  • PLC IP address
  • Network connectivity / ping
  • FINS/TCP configuration
  • PLC network settings
  • Ignition device configuration
  • FINS node/network/address settings

However, the connection is still not successful.

Could someone please guide me on:

  1. What are the required FINS/TCP settings in the Omron PLC?
  2. What settings should be configured in Ignition's Omron FINS/TCP driver?
  3. How can I verify whether the PLC is actually listening on the FINS/TCP port (9600)?
  4. Are there any specific FINS Network Number, Node Number, or Unit Number settings that need to match between Ignition and the PLC?
  5. Is there any recommended way to troubleshoot FINS/TCP communication from Ignition?

Being able to ping the device does not mean that the port is open. Make sure you have a firewall rule for port 9600.

Also, knowing what PLC model you're trying to connect to may help.
