I need to update Ignition from version 8.1.38 to 8.3.0, the new version. Well, I’ve checked the main guide in the user manual, but I think it boils down to these steps:
Download the Linux Installer 64-bit (1.9 GB) on another machine.
Copy that file to your server (via USB, internal network, etc.).
Stop the Ignition 8.1 service.
Run the 8.3 installer.
Restart the service and validate that everything is the same.
Could you please explain if doing this won’t affect anything, or if the service I currently have with the paid license will remain active? I have the Basic Care plan, but I’m not sure if this would be the correct update. It’s worth noting that the server does not have network access.
Your license probably is not updated for 8.3 yet, and without internet access you're going to have to do the offline refresh and reactivation process... I would call support and make sure your license is set up for 8.3 before you begin this.
8.3 is in Beta, so there’s no way to predict if it won’t change anything. It will probably change alot of things. Do not do this to a production environment. Test purposes only.
Judging from the number of bug posts and feature questions, I personally wouldn’t use it outside of a development environment where you go through extensive testing. It’s not like upgrading an 8.1.x to a later version. There are fundamental engine differences from what I read.
