Is it not possible to make an upgrade script that could be run from the command line in linux?
With some of the info I have been reading I hope we don’t have to install a desktop to have this automated functionality in the future on linux.

Yes we need to work on our linux install/upgrade experience. Ideally we’ll distribute deb/rpm packages.
Have you tried tunneling the X session via SSH, then try GCU.sh?
Kyle,
I have not tried that. I think a script is/would be the best.
Are there any updates on this idea?
Reinstalling a new version seems like a bad idea.

You can simply drop a new *.gpkg into a subfolder called “upgrades” under the main installation and upon restart your context will be updated.
