Using a license with 8.3 beta

Can 8.3 beta be licensed yet? I want our QA team to do some testing in that area for complex module and GAN configurations, but I don’t want them reporting bugs that are not ‘real.’

We don’t license beta versions (because they shouldn’t be used in production). However if you need to license it for testing purposes, contact your sales rep and we can provide a license that will expire when 8.3.0 final is released.

Does this mean that we can not upgrade from licensed 8.1 to 8.3 until LTS is realeased?

Until 8.3.0 is released.

Just updated to todays version and licensed modules are still in trial. I have removed the license and installed again with no success.

Have you refreshed your license? Is it eligible for 8.3?

You can call support and they can look it up for you.

edit: I'm told licenses haven't been updated yet, should happen later today?

Did you already update a production system? While IA is pretty good with automated testing of builds, I didn't think I would jump that quickly on a new release on a production system. Test it out on a separate system first to make sure things work as expected.

Like most companies, I guess, we only have one licence for the production server, not for the development server. Testing the licence in 8.3 would have required removing it from the production server, which doesn't make sense.

What I'm saying/asking is if you loaded 8.3 onto your production server? I believe all licenses have to be manually refreshed by IA to be upgraded to 8.3 support unless they plan on doing this automatically for any license currently under a support contact.

Check with your integrator or sales rep to be sure your license has the 8.3 version flag before you attempt to upgrade your production system.

When I adquired the licenses, what I was told is that adquiring the Support Plan automatically gives us those updates, if that is not the case we have a another problem… :sweat_smile:

Yes, you are eligible for the upgrade with your active support plan, but on your license there's a flag that essentially says what versions it's good for and until that flag is updated to the new version, the license won't work with the new version yet.
