Hi,
Has anyone seen this in v9.3.1 ?
It gets stuck at this:
Download attempt #0 for file security-8.3.1.jar failed.
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
Any ideas why?

Often this is firewall, AV, or other network infrastructure flagging this is as a false positive and interrupting the download.
I manually opened the ports 8088 and 8043 in firewall but it didn’t fix it.
Any other suggestions?
Nothing to do with open ports. It's packet inspection type stuff falsely flagging the contents of security-8.3.1.jar as dangerous.
It's usually something you would need IT to get involved with.
I disabled the firewall but still no luck.
It’s weird cause it’s still working fine on my old laptop, on the same network.
What could be different on my new laptop?
Is there a way to add an exception somewhere for that file?
Is your antivirus different between the two machines?
no, they’re identical company laptops
I actually installed the Designer on 2 other laptops and none of them works. For some reason only the first laptop that I used works opening the Designer projects form the remote gateway.
Also, this is an Edge project. I thought maybe it has to do with that, Edge limiting remote access
I'm going to basically guarantee it's nothing on our end.
Try directly downloading the file in a web browser, e.g.
http://localhost:8088/system/jar/m/security-8.3.1.jar
Where you're using the correct host/port.
I know you don't want to hear it, but you need support from your IT department - this is not an Ignition issue.
I know and I already pointed it to them but they don’t seem to be able to figure it out :))
I actually connected the gateway PC and my laptop to a static IP hardwired network and it works
Thanks all
some old VPNs didn't like going thru 6to4 NAT routers and would do something similar...
I had the same issue on my personal PC trying to access a 8.1.44 gateway. Not sure if this helps but I had Citrix web apps running in the background. Forcing that to quit allowed the designer to download the project resources like normal. So - it might not even be an 'anti virus' thats interfering. Could be malware by a different name!
Why is every program so damn pervasive these days....
