Vision or Perspective Client 8.3.1 not running on Raspberry Pi 5 (Raspbian)

I see all the threads about java and the issues with trying to run a Vision client on ARM64 architecture and I attempted all the steps, but could not get the Vision client to launch, so I just tried with Perspective and it won’t launch either.
Maybe I’m missing a simple step, but I downloaded the appropriate .tar.gz files from the archive and ran the install.sh where it put the shortcut on the desktop. Trying to launch that shortcut does nothing. No visible errors, just doesn’t run.

The regular launchers don't work on RPi. You have to use the legacy launch script inside the zip installer, and preset the target project.

I will be curious to hear how well Vision projects perform on Pi 5s. I tried on Pi 4 Bs a couple years back and I wasn't happy with the results

The Pi5 is substantially more powerful than the 4 as I have tested on other projects, but I can’t even get the vision client to launch, even with the legacy launcher.

Any help on getting this to work would be appreciated.

And I just tried with Perspective, too, with the legacy launcher and no joy.

I've switched to perspective for RPis. I have run the legacy launchers on Pi 4s and 3s, but not the 5. You need to bring your own JDK and possibly modify the batch script that is available on the forum, no idea if it has changed for 8.3.

The same setup won't work on 8.3. Since there were a lot of option switches that had to be used for later 8.1, I ended up swapping the RPis out with cheap inexpensive mini PCs and installed Linux Lite on them.

What mini PC did you go with? What architecture is required to run the Vision client? x86?

And lastly, what desktop environment are you running?
