Web Browser Component and differences across versions

Hello,

A customer just requested to add a web browser window to a Vision client. The module works, but the rendering of the page is very sub-par, with dynamic data not showing. They are running 7.9.14, but there is an upgrade to 8.1 happening in the near future. Do I have any hopes that the web browser module for 8.1 will be able to perform better, or do all versions use the same core? Is there any way I can check beforehand?

Thanks

Latest v8.1 has a much newer JxBrowser core.

Install latest in an isolated server and try it. Ignition's two-hour trial mode can be reset over and over to get your testing done.

Do note that JxBrowser uses embedded Chromium, not Chrome. That means certain patent-encumbered media codecs won't be available, regardless.

I used the web browser on like 7.9.10 back in 2018/19, there were no issues with it.

Ensure the web browser is compatible with your 7.9.14. You could also try going to the latest 7.9 with the latest 7.9 web browser module in the interim (and there were security patches after .14, so you really should).
