We have a cluster of servers right now currently consisting of 7.9 and 8.1 servers. Currently our EAM is running using 7.9.16, but I was wondering if an 8.1 EAM would be better suited for this mixed inventory.

If the controller itself is a different major version that some of it’s agents, you might run into problems executing some agent tasks (transferring tags, projects, etc) since a lot of resources will be defined differently. Ideally, the EAM controller is the most up-to-date compared to everything else.
