Windows file path for transaction groups?

We’ve got a few gateways, one for each system, just serving as interface between the PLC and SQL. We’re working on backing everything up in Octoplant, so I’m trying to find where these transaction group files live. It’s not at the usual C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition path, I actually can’t find Ignition files anywhere except for the .ignition folder under the specific user directory, and that didn’t seem to be what I was looking for.

What version of Ignition are you using?

8.1.25

They'll be somewhere like $IGNITION/data/projects/<projectname>/com.inductiveautomation.fsql.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Backing up just these files would not likely be enough to get you running again in some kind of disaster recovery. You'll need other project resources, general gateway config (OPC connections, devices, tags), etc...

Where does the $IGNITION folder live?

Before I started looking at these, I forgot they were just transaction groups. I thought there might’ve been graphics to back up that we could restore if a change broke something. When I realized there were no graphics, I figured I’d keep going anyway to see if I could remember how Octoplant interfaces with Ignition

Wherever you installed it. C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition maybe.

I don't know anything about Octoplant or how it interfaces with Ignition or if it has special support for Ignition.

They must’ve installed Ignition under a different user directory or something. The Inductive Automation folder and subfolders aren’t in Program Files, and I can’t find it anywhere else. But I know it has to be installed on this machine because the project is pointing to localhost. I’ll ask someone on-site that might know.

Open up services go to ignition right click on properties it will show you were the exectuable lives
