Auto Login in Ignition Perspective

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some guidance on setting up auto login in Ignition Perspective.

Here’s my setup:

  • I have a Perspective project with one main HMI (used by the Operator).

  • The project launches full screen and always opens to my “main” view, which works fine.

  • What I need is for this HMI client PC to automatically log in as a fixed user (Operator) without the user having to go through the login screen. Ideally, when the operator logs into Windows, Ignition should just open straight into the Operator account.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • I’m using the default user/role provider and default IdP.

  • In Project Properties I left authentication as normal, but when I tried changing some settings, it only resulted in the login screen showing immediately, which I don’t want.

  • I also experimented with some simple scripts, but couldn’t get them to actually perform the login automatically.

Additional details:

  • I have 3 clients with fixed IP addresses.

    • 1 should always log in as Operator.

    • The other 2–3 should log in as Office.

  • I already created these users/roles in the default user/role provider and configured them under Security.

My Question:

Is there a straightforward way to achieve auto login for fixed clients in Perspective?

  • For example, can it be handled via scripts (session startup, IP detection, etc.) or is anonymous access + role mapping a better approach?

  • I don’t want to use Windows/AD credentials — just the built-in user/role provider within Ignition Percpective

Any tips, examples, or best practices would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
