Camera Access from Google Chrome!

I am very very new to Ignition 8.1, maybe it's a silly question.

I am able to access the Camera from the Perspective App, but when I open a Chrome browser, and click on the same button, to open the camera, it doesn't, but the tag values are getting updated in Chrome as well as Perspective.

Web browsers aren't allowed to access the device that way, it would be considered malware at that point. You must use the Perspective App for that functionality.

Not quite, they can, if the user allows it. But it cant be forced, the user has to allow it. And it has to be allowed through the browsers own controls, nothing we can change about it.

I opened Setting > site setting > Camera (This is an enabled option)

and Setting > site setting > All sites > http://xx:xx:xx:xxx:xxxx (my gateway)
When i click on my gateway , i can see under Permission that Sound is enabled , But I cant see the Camera Option there ?

maybe its that?

I tried , that as well , But it didn't work out.....

what exacty are you using to open the camera?

try to reset the settings for your gateway and see if the request popups up again

Everything works fine , when i use the Perspective App.

The problem arises , when i use google chrome , when i click on button , there's no option for scanning the barcode.

How are you scanning the barcode?

This might not be a native tool in all browsers, just taking a photo =/= reading the text in said photo, it requires the browser to have features for reading text (or the app which has these features)

you might be able to install an extention for this though
you could try adding this

but if you have to install something, you might aswell install the app xd

The whole point of having a Perspective App is to do things that browsers don't allow. :man_shrugging:

If you want a supported solution, use the App.
