[IGN-16160] Ignition Voip TTS Module

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with Voice Notification and TTS voices on my Ignition Gateway.

Environment

  • Ignition Gateway: 8.3.6 (b2026042713)
  • Voice Notification Module: 7.3.6 (b2026042713)
  • TTS Voice Module: en_us_katherine 6.3.0 (b2024112210)
  • OS / Runtime:
    • Docker container (Linux, x86_64)
    • Windows 11 installation
    • The issue occurs in both environments with identical behavior.

At Gateway startup, I get the following error:

java.lang.Exception: Failed to initialize voice 'katherine' from 'C:\Program Files\Inductive Automation\Ignition\temp\cere\voices\cerevoice_katherine_6.0.0_48k.voice'. Error code: 0

For sure I'm missing something, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We also ran into this today. We will update this thread as we know more.

It appears that the license expired today. We are working to resolve the issue.

We're in the process of fixing this, but it's going to take some time to get a renewed license from our voice provider. We'll keep this thread updated as to when a fix becomes available, however I'd recommend anyone relying on voice notifications in 8.3 temporarily move to a different form of notification (sms, email, etc.) until we're able to get the underlying license updated.

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback. Could you please keep me updated if there are any developments?I will soon need to install the VoIP module at a client’s site, and I will have to proceed using version 8.3.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, please update us ASAP as we have multiple plants where this is affecting operations.

This is just an update to let you know that we are working as fast as we can to get this resolved. As soon as we have something in place we will post here ASAP. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

We have a new module built and tested, and we're working on deploying it shortly. More info to come once we have it deployed and available.

The updated Voice Notification module has been deployed, more info can be found here: Updated 8.3 Voice Notification Module for download (Fix for module startup issue)
