Ignition 7.9 and Java Install

I just installed Ignition 7.9.2 to work on an older project.

However, when starting up the gateway I keep getting what looks like java errors.

First
Unrecognized VM option 'UseConcMarkSweepGC'

Then
Unrecognized VM option 'CMSClassUnloadingEnabled'

I have Java 8 installed. Is this a PATH issue?

Yes. Your gateway is running with a newer java. (You should also get rid of those VM options and use G1GC.)

It might be, because those options should be recognized by JDK 8.

What happens if you open a terminal / cmd prompt and run java -version?

Can you upload the ignition.conf file?

also in case it needs to be said, this needs to be done on the machine that's actually running the Ignition Gateway.

Yes, it was.

That doesn't mean much to me

It's pointing to a Java 21 install.

Change the path so it points to wherever you have JDK 8 installed.

You can also comment it out to let Ignition use whatever it finds on the PATH variable.

I previously had 8.1 installed. Could that affect this?

No, Ignition 8 includes its own Java runtime, it doesn’t install or need one from your system.

Ok. Updating the path in the conf file to

C:/Program Files/Zulu/zulu-8-jre/bin/java.exe

worked

Service is now started
