Ignition backup

can I Check the ignition version from the backup file?and how?

Gateway backups are zip files. If your OS isn't smart enough to notice this and automatically open it with a Zip utility, change the file extension to .zip. (Notably, Windows is too stupid to recognize the file type.)

I think he is asking if inside the .zip file is there anywhere where the ignition version of that project is saved.

I have no idea

Try Kindling.

As Phil said - .gwbks are just zips, so you can open them in any archive viewing tool and look at the backupinfo.xml file it contains.

Kindling offers a graphical way to do this, and includes some other Ignition specific niceties (such as browsing inner IDB files) but is by no means required for the basic operation:

I would hope anyone looking inside a gateway backup for information about the backup would intuitively consider backupinfo.xml as a likely source...
