Perspective - Max Number of Concurrent Users

Hi everyone,

Is there a known upper-limit on the number of concurrent users in perspective per gateway? Right now we have 3-forward facing load-balanced Ignition gateways with several projects on them, and we're in the process of deploying a project which is expected to have a rather large user base of about 1000 users (not necessarily concurrently, just registered users who will often use the application once every few days).

It is a rather database-heavy application, though none of the queries seem expensive at the moment.

I understand that hardware infrastructure on the gateways will affect the max number of concurrent users (e.g. more memory, CPU), but how do you estimate how much load a single gateway can take, or even 3 load-balanced gateways with the same specs, at that?

I recall on a previous perspective project in 2019 (e.g. older perspective version) that we could only get up to around 50~75 sessions before our gateway started tapping out and became unable to load pages or run any scripts. Luckily that project did not require that many concurrent users.

Cheers,
Roger

Discussed here, with anecdotes: Record Number of Perspective Sessions

These are all single gateway numbers. I don't know if anybody has pushed the limit when load balancing with multiple front end gateways.

Interesting, good to know, and sort of in the ballpark I expected!
