SMS notification

If we want our SCADA system to do SMS notification with Ignition what are our options? "SMS Notification Module" + Airlink device + SMS cellular plan. Or
"Twilio notification module"? There is no other option?

If there isn't another option, what is usually the more robust solution? I would guess this is based on location and cellular service strength, ISP reliability etc...

These are the two options offered by IA. You can also sometimes (depending on the cell carrier) send SMS by sending an email to a certain address, but this never seems very reliable from what I've seen.

Twilio is probably the best choice.

How do I get Twilio as an available module? I found this thread but did not see Twilio as available module to install. Twilio alarms module
I am currently running 8.1.42.

select your version, scroll down and find the Twilio module.

Not sure if this link works without the correct referrer set by originating from the downloads page.

Is the Airlink solution limited to the listed modem versions on the IA pricing page? Seems like few already got obsoleted.

It's pretty limited, yes. It doesn't use some generic protocol, it uses some obscure feature/protocol that is proprietary to the Airlink devices.

Is there anything special that needs to be done at the Twilio end? I wanted to set up a test notification but can't seem to get it going. Ignition realized the correct phone number at Twilio end. I have set up Roster with one user. User is set up with SMS contact. The phone number is correct and starts with +1. I can see on the vision client the alarm appearing and disappearing when testing.

Set the Ignition logger for "twilio.TwilioNotificationProfile" to DEBUG and send another one.

There's also surely some kind of logs or console in your Twilio account you can use to see if the requests are making it there.

I haven't seen an error at the Twilio; checked few times. I will enable the debug and see if there is some sort of error. Thanks.

I do not see "twilio.TwilioNotificationProfile" in the logging level list. These are the only two related:

But nothing shows up still in the diagnostic log.

Seemed to work though; getting debug info but can't make much sense of it.

Doesn't really tell me why it retired; failed or anything else.

I'm not sure you're looking at the right logging levels area.

It's in the gateway, on the logs tab, under the gear icon.

You can give support a call if you can't get it working. They should be able to figure out what's not configured pretty quickly with a screen share.

Ok thanks.

Yeah that information is from the Gateway Status>Diagnostics>Logs
