I’ve been using Ignition perspective for several years. I’m reviewing the option of using ignition as a HMI for packaging machinery.
I’m confused on which path to take. I’m keen to understand what ignitions best practice suggestions are and which ignition architecture I should pursue.
My highlevel solution contains an onlogic touch panel pc running Windows connected to an Omron PLC.
By "path to take", do you mean Perspective vs. Vision?
If so, some topics to review:
Hi all,
We're looking to use Ignition as a potential replacement to a physical pendant for manual machine control. Has anyone attempted or looked into this? We've got concerns about latency and usability as it would be from a tablet on a WiFi connection. Safety isn't a huge concern, just usability in terms of fine-grain control and latency (e.g. moving a motor a specific distance by holding a button down.) Anyone ever try this or have any feedback as to why this is a good/bad idea? Thanks!
Hi All
Fundamental question: can perspective be used instead of vision or only as addition to it in complex screens.
My understanding is that in simple cases (like elective study - building in perspective in inductiveuniversity) it was sufficient. Perspective have flexi containers which display things nicely on mobile or tablet.
However my understanding is that it cannot replace vision functionality in complex screen setups with many valve/motor instances etc. so both vision and perspective h…
Is there a way to identify a specific device. In session props, there is device > identifier, but that really isn’t identifying the device. It’s identifying the browser via the cookies. If you use Chrome and Firefox on the same device, it shows it as two devices. And if they clear the cookies, then the id resets and everything saved for that device is no longer useable. We could also save the ip address, but that’s also not consistent since it changes too. Ideally, we would get the MAC address, …
I'm sure this is an age-old debate on here, but I'm seeking advice for a new project. Before the debate begins:
Yes: I am aware that Perspective is newer, responsive, and more portable.
No: I don't need that.
This projects would consist of two stationary multi-monitor operator stations, perhaps a Windows tablet or two in the future, and possible some remote users (off-prem) connected via VPN.
I'm new to both Perspective and Vision, but I come from the SCADA / DCS world so Vision seems much…
